The Cotton House, Barcelona

There are many great hotels in Barcelona I am sure; I have only stayed in only a handful. Just as in Copenhagen, it is difficult to select which ones is good, which is bad and which ones is just way too touristy, if you know what I mean. Of course money is always also a fact to consider, at my recent trip, I was invited to stay at the former headquarters of the city’s cotton guild, now Cotton House Hotel.

The hotel is located at Gran Via, which is not the most attractive street (yet), however, a few minutes walk round the block will get you to cool shops, restaurants and cafés. The hotel itself is beautiful, especially all the public spaces, like the grand hall, with marble stairs on one side and the spiral stairs on the other, both original of course. On the first floor, you’ll find a library, or a relaxing area and the restaurant with a huge, outside terrace. Ps. this is also where the breakfast is served, make sure to get to there early, you don’t want to miss this one.

On the top floor you’ll find a great, but not heated, outdoor pool with a great view of the city, you can even see the La Sagrada Familia. My room was on this floor, a simple, all white, king-size bedroom – best part, the private balcony and the massive shower cubicle with rain shower.
